Duke University School of Medicine 2026 Applicant Guide: Requirements, Costs, and Tips

Why Duke stands out

Duke’s M.D. program uses a Patient FIRST curriculum. You learn integrated basic sciences in year one, complete core clerkships in year two, then spend a full third year on scholarship or a dual degree before advanced rotations. This structure front-loads patient care and gives you dedicated time for inquiry.

Fast facts

Duke receives several thousand applications each year, invites a small fraction to interview, and enrolls a class of a little over 100 students. Treat the school’s published figures as the reference point rather than rough acceptance rate estimates.

Programs at a glance
  • M.D. with a distinctive third-year scholarship block
  • Dual degree options available during the scholarly year
  • Separate professional programs under the same school include PA, DPT, and OTD

This is why Duke values curiosity, cultural humility, and comfort with early patient contact.
