Terms of Service

Introduction

Welcome to GoElective! We are delighted to have you join our community. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are here to ensure a transparent and harmonious relationship between you and GoElective. They govern your access to and use of the GoElective website and services provided by us. By choosing to access or use our services, you signify your agreement to comply with these Terms. If, for any reason, you do not agree with any part of these Terms, your access to our services will be restricted. 

Booking 

Booking a program with GoElective is a straightforward process. Participants can visit our website at goelective.com/apply and follow the step-by-step booking process. For any questions or assistance, our support team is available to help. 

Responsibility 

Participants must be at least 18 years old, or have guardian consent if under 18. It is their responsibility to ensure they have sufficient insurance coverage, health, and fitness for travel. GoElective is not liable for personal injury, loss of property, or other expenses incurred during the program. 

Accounts 

When you create an account with us, you certify that you are at least 18 years of age (or have guardian consent if under 18) and provide accurate and current information. Safeguarding the confidentiality of your account is paramount, and any instances of unauthorized use or security breaches must be promptly reported to us. We reserve the right to exercise discretion in terminating accounts or modifying content as needed to maintain the integrity of our platform. 

Payment 

Upon acceptance, successful applicants are required to submit a Program Deposit of $300 which is non-refundable but applicable to future programs within one year. The rest of the program fee must be paid in advance and can be paid in installments up to one month before the start date. 

Refund Policy 

Our commitment to transparency extends to our refund policy. We understand that circumstances may change, and we strive to accommodate them as best as we can. For our programs, we offer the following refund policy: 

  • 180+ Days Before Program Startdate: 100% refund of the program fees.
  • 90 -180 Days Before Program Start: 50% refund of the program fees. ● Less Than 90 Days Before Program Start: Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided as the funds have already been allocated for your program expenses and to prepare for your arrival. 

Please note that refunds exclude any transfer fees incurred. Certain purchases such as safaris and merchandise are exempt from refunds. Additionally, payment plans, once initiated, are non-refundable. 

Program Date Changes 

Requests for changes to program dates are subject to availability and approval and may incur an administrative fee of up to $50. Early departure requires prior approval by the operations team to maintain eligibility for post-program support services. To initiate a Program Change Request, please contact accounting@goelective.com. 

Maximizing Group Opportunities 

Choosing off-peak travel times, may lead to solo placements or smaller groups. We encourage considering recommended dates for a more group-focused experience. 

Solo Placements 

Solo placements may happen when fewer students enroll for a date. GoElective aims for group placements, but availability varies yearly. Participants will be informed of their placement status one month before the program begins and can switch dates to join a group without extra fees. 

Before the Program starts GoElective facilitates communication among participants beforehand, allowing connections at least a month in advance. 

Program Cancellations, Deposits & Fees 

Once a placement is confirmed, applicants become financially responsible for the remaining Program Fee. Cancelled placements may incur fees of upto $500, and overdue accounts may be subject to additional charges and collection efforts. 

Please note that a placement is considered confirmed when an applicant completes the Program Deposit, which is non-refundable. Applicants can transfer the deposit to a friend or schoolmate, or they can use it within one year from their initial program start date. 

Visas 

While we provide guidance, obtaining required visas and permits is ultimately your responsibility. Visa processing fees may apply for certain regions.

General Rules 

Participants must adhere to local rules and customs, refrain from possessing illegal substances, and respect the culture and community. Expulsion may result from misconduct or violation of rules. 

Here are some guidelines to follow during your program: 

  1. Follow the directives outlined by the local Project Coordinator. 
  2. Show respect for the customs and traditions of the host country. 
  3. Treat all individuals, including your peers, with respect. 
  4. Take responsibility for any damages to accommodations. 
  5. Dress appropriately for local customs and weather. 
  6. Understand that program arrangements are customized and cannot be changed without approval. 
  7. Inform Project Coordinators of any weekend travel plans. 
  8. Respect community policies and rules during your stay. 
  9. Obtain permission before inviting guests over, with no overnight stays permitted. 10. Avoid participation in any demonstrations and adhere to local laws. 
  10. Smoking is not allowed inside our residences. 
  11. Drink responsibly; any misconduct, including excessive intoxication, will lead to immediate termination from the program. 
  12. Keep your room clean and orderly. 

Program Completion/Evaluation Requirements 

We prioritize your success at GoElective. To qualify for program completion and receive letters of recommendation, paticipant must achieve a score of at least 6/10 in evaluation categories, complete the Post-program Evaluation, and provide a testimonial for our alumni network section. 

Termination Of Program 

GoElective reserves the right to terminate programs for violations of terms, false information, refusal of obligations, or gross misconduct. 

Participants who choose to terminate their program for whatever reason, at any point during their program will are responsible for their own passage back home. GoElective will not be liable to offer refunds or financial assistance. 

Changes or Cancellations by GoElective 

In case of events beyond our control, like natural disasters or political instability, we'll notify participants as soon as possible. We may offer a similar program elsewhere, with additional costs like changing tickets or program fees.

For sector-specific issues like strikes, we'll aim to deliver a similar program in a private hospital, with any extra costs covered by the participant. 

If we cancel a program, we will inform participants at least 45 days before the start date and refund them within 30 days. We have no further liability beyond the refund.. 

Travel and Medical Evacuation Insurance 

Participants are strongly encouraged to secure travel insurance before joining the program, with the consideration of indemnity insurance being advisable. Although we don't have affiliations with specific insurance providers, World Nomads is a reputable option known for its comprehensive coverage tailored to travelers. Students are also encouraged to explore other insurance providers to accommodate their budget or specific needs. 

Copyright Policy 

We highly value respecting intellectual property rights. If you are a copyright owner, or authorized on behalf of one, and you believe that the copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit your claim via email to hello@goelective.com with a detailed description of the alleged infringement included in your message. 

False claims may result in liability for damages and attorney fees related to copyright infringement on our service. 

Intellectual Property 

Unauthorized use of GoElective's trademarks or content is strictly prohibited to maintain the integrity of our brand and partnerships. Our Service is legally safeguarded by copyright, trademark, and other regulations and cannot be used in conjunction with any product or service without obtaining prior written consent. 

Links To Other Websites 

While we may provide links to third-party websites, we advise users to proceed with caution. We are not responsible for the content or practices of these websites and recommend reviewing their terms and policies. 

Termination 

We value integrity and reserve the right to terminate or suspend accounts for breaches of these Terms, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all.

Indemnification 

By using our service, you agree to indemnify and hold GoElective harmless from any claims or liabilities arising from your use of the platform. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GoElective, its affiliates, employees, agents, officers, and directors from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising from your use of the Service or any breach of these Terms. 

Limitation Of Liability 

While we aim for excellence, GoElective and its affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our service. This includes loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill. We expressly disclaim liability for any damages resulting from your access to or use of the Service, third-party conduct, content obtained from the Service, or unauthorized access to your transmissions or content, regardless of legal theory or prior notice. 

Disclaimer 

Our service is provided on an "AS IS" basis, with no guarantees of availability or suitability for any purpose. 

Exclusions 

Certain jurisdictions may have different legal requirements. Some provisions of these Terms may not apply in certain jurisdictions. 

Changes 

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, with changes becoming effective upon posting, ensuring continued alignment with evolving needs and standards.
