At Go Elective, we believe travel is one of the most powerful classrooms. Our School Expeditions program offers schools from the U.S., U.K., Europe, and beyond a safe, curriculum-linked, and immersive journey to East Africa.
These expeditions are designed not just as trips, but as transformational learning experiences that broaden perspectives and equip young people with pre-professional skills and personal growth tools that last a lifetime.
We offer age-sensitive programs that are carefully adapted for primary, junior, and high school groups, ensuring every student participates at an appropriate level. Each program is customized in consultation with teachers, career advisors and guardians and runs from 1 to 8 weeks, depending on your goals.
Each program is built around four core areas: healthcare exposure, environment conservation, volunteering, and cultural immersion paired with safari experiences.
By weaving these themes together, students gain the opportunity to view the world through multiple lenses.
What sets Go-Elective apart is our commitment to purposeful travel. Students engage directly with local peers, community leaders, and experts in safe, structured environments. They return home not only with stories of adventure, but also with a deeper understanding of resilience, global responsibility, and their own capacity to contribute.
Age-appropriate, observational experiences that introduce students to how health systems work in resource-variable settings, paired with global health seminars and ethical, non-invasive service activities such as health education days or hygiene campaigns run with community partners.
Ranger talks, conservation education days, and a safari game drive linked to biodiversity, human-wildlife conflict, and climate topics. Options include learning in the Amboseli–Tsavo and coastal ecosystems.
Meet local founders and social enterprises, visit markets and small manufacturers, and map value chains common in East Africa. Students connect economic realities with culture, logistics, and tourism.

Safeguarding and ethics are integral when activities involve children or vulnerable groups.
Every expedition includes private transport, vetted accommodations, and round-the-clock in-country support. Parents and teachers can have full confidence in our robust safety systems, which align with recognized overseas visit guidance. For students, the experience is unforgettable, real-world exposure, practical teamwork, and cultural literacy all in one.
Every itinerary is customized for your group, whether a high school, junior school, or summer camp. We work directly with administrators and trip leaders to meet specific goals and interest areas.
Students build independence, teamwork, cultural literacy, and practical life skills. Teachers and parents are welcome to join as chaperones.
Why come all the way and not experience the thrill of an authentic safari? Africa's expansive grasslands, enchanting wildlife, and vibrant cultures create a remarkable backdrop for every school expedition. With Go Elective Safaris, participants have the chance to witness it all - lions at dawn, herd of elephants in watering holes, and giraffes grazing under acacia trees.
Comfort and safety are the most important priorities in our programs. We are proud to share that we have had zero incidents over the years, and we maintain the following measures to keep it that way.
For health precautions, we provide a pre-departure health guide covering:
Before departure, we provide a detailed handbook with health guidance, packing lists, and visa advice. Every group joins a virtual orientation to meet our team and review expectations so students arrive prepared and confident.
Students stay in private, catered residences located in safe neighborhoods with 24/7 security, CCTV, and perimeter fencing.
Dedicated program drivers handle all in-country transport, including airport pickup, daily transfers to the hospital, and excursions.
A dedicated program coordinator and support staff are available 24/7.
On arrival, participants receive a detailed local orientation and safety briefing, covering essentials such as not going out alone at night, using program transport, and other residence protocols.
Itineraries are customized per group. A typical flow begins with arrival and next-day orientation covering safety, culture, and trip goals.
For healthcare-focused programs:
Mornings feature guided, observational hospital exposure and global health mini-lectures where students learn about systems, ethics, and case discussions appropriate to their age.
Afternoons tilt toward exploration and learning in context, walks in local markets, culture and history visits, feeding giraffes (for specific destinations) and visiting conservation labs.
Weekends are usually for safaris!
The program is all-comprehensive and hassle-free, covering every major detail so students and teachers can focus fully on the experience.
The change shows up long after the plane lands — in how students think, lead and see the world around them.
We plan student-appropriate volunteering. We follow child-safe imagery and communication practices, and we prepare students to engage respectfully without stereotype or harm.
